Tri Colored Heron Chicks

This past Saturday was spectacular. Chicks at the Rookery in St. Augustine were showing off a plenty.
It was so very hot !
The Roseate Spoonbills have nested the first time at the Rookery and plenty action . Roseate Spoons are hatched but not visible . A few weeks and up their heads will spring.
Many of the Wood Stork chicks are huge, Snowy Egrets testing their wings.
I did manage a couple shots of the Green heron, but since they don't nest with the others it is on the other side of park.
The spoonbils are in high security covering the babes.  Sadly I had to turn away as a Snowy met its demise with the Alligator. As they say that is nature.. Still sad !
Left the rookery and headed to Palatka where awaits an awesome State park called Ravine Gardens.  Beautiful with suspension bridges but that's a later blog.
Please check out my website for many more Photos of the beautiful birds and other albums...
